Key-man dependency

There are some key men and women in the business. We know them. We depend on them. Too much. 

The problem is not with playing a key role, the problem is when people become dependent on you to the extent that they don’t fully take up their own key roles.

If you are one of these key people, try to consciously empower those around you. If someone comes to you with their work problem, help them to think about a solution and go solve it themselves. Don’t make it your job to solve it for them. Let’s hold each other accountable for our respective roles…
